What is drifting

Drifting is a motorsport where the driver is judged on the vehicle speed and control, and the angle of the car. This means the car is kept in an almost constant skid. There are drift battles, which are two cars against one another, and exhibition drifting which is one car following a set line. Drifting started as a racing technique in Japan and was adopted into a motorsport niche of its own in the 1990s. Now it has evolved into a competitive sport, popular worldwide. Drifting competitions are run on racing circuits, sports arenas and even car parking lots. Drift cars have become highly specialized, and car setup (suspension, wheel camber, LSD and more) makes all the difference.
